SUNDAY 

6/15

Drive from NYC to Tarrytown   (35 min)

Visit Sunnyside  (Washington Irving’s Home)  

Visit Lyndhurst  (JP Morgan’s Home)  

Drive from Tarrytown to Sleepy Hollow  (10 min)

Lunch New Mint Café  

Visit Kykuit (Rockefeller Estate)  (3 hr tour reservation at 2:15) Great gardens and home. Be sure to get tickets in advance.

Visit Phillipsburg Manor   (if time)

Drive from Sleepy Hollow toTarrytown  (15 min)   

Dinner Equus  (Castle on the Hudson)  (7PM reservation) Equus is the restaurant in this big Hotel - Nice

Overnight Tarrytown  Marriott Not very nice, but few places to stay in this area. Not much choice except bed and breakfast places which are generally too small for a big groups.

Donald M. Kendall Sculpure Gardens at Pepsico Gardens. Beautiful – Don’t miss.

MONDAY

6/16

Drive from Tarrytown to West Point  (45 min)

Visit Tour of Campus and Grounds  (1 hr tour reservation at 10:30)

Lunch The Thayer Hotel (at West Point)  (12:30PM reservation) 

Drive from West Point to Garrison   (15 min)

Visit Boscobel   (if time)

Drive from Garrison to Cold Spring  (15 min)     (ice cream and walk around)

Drive from Cold Spring to Beacon  (30 min)

Visit Dia: Beacon Art Museum   (Open from 11AM – 6PM) Very unusual  

Drive from Beacon to Poughkeepsie   (30 min)

Dinner The Olive Garden - skip

Overnight Poughkeepsie Marriott – Mediocre at best. 

TUESDAY

Best entire day of the trip. All excellent

Drive from Poughkeepsie to Hyde Park  (15 min)

Visit Vanderbilt Mansion  (1 hr tour reservation from 9 – 10)

Visit FDR’s Home  (1 hr tour reservation from 11:30 – 12:30)

Lunch Culinary Institute Of America   (1:00PM reservation)

Visit Val-Kill  (Eleanor Roosevelt’s Home)  (1 hr tour reservation from                    

                                                        3:30 – 4:30)

Dinner (?)

Drive from Hyde Park to Poughkeepsie  (25 min)

Overnight Poughkeepsie Marriott 

WEDNSDAY

6/18

Drive from Poughkeepsie to Woodstock  (40 min)

Drive from Woodstock to Rhinebeck  (34 min) Interesting town for walking around. Other towns not so much

Lunch Tavern at The Beekman Arms    (12:30 reservation)

                         (Oldest Inn in US)

Visit            Old Rhinebeck Aerodome    (Antique planes and cars)

Dinner Terrapin – Delicious – Don’t miss

Drive from Rhinebeck to Red Hook  (10 min)   (walk around village)

Drive from Red Hook to Boston  (3 hrs 15 min)

Hudson – Town with many antique stores, but many were closed when we were there. Great pastry place, but cant remember the name.
