ITINERARY - Three Days in Philadelphia

Three Days in Philadelphia -- Class of 2014.  Taken in 2012

The program will begin at 10 am on Friday, October 26 and end at 2 pm on Sunday October 28

  1. Transportation is on your own.

  2. We strongly recommend flying.  Right now US Airways roundtrip ticket is $254, which is slightly more than the train, but much less of a hassle.  If you plan to go, now is the time to book your ticket:

    1. Some of us are planning to fly down Thursday night: #1829 leaves at 7:30 pm and gets in to Phil at 9:01.  There is a 5:00 pm flight as well.  If you want to leave Friday morning, there is 6:30 am flight (#1807) that arrives at 7:54 am.  With the morning flight, one could drop bags off at the hotel and meet up by 10 am.

    2. As the program will end on Sunday at 2 pm, #3180 leaves at 6:15 and gets to Boston at 7:51.

  3. The itinerary is shaping up to look like this:

    1. Friday, October 26 – Philadelphia Museum of Art and The Barnes Collection

    2. Saturday, October 27 - Winterthur, Brandywine Valley, The Rodin Museum, Dinner

    3. Sunday, October 28 – Context Walking tour (three hours) to include historic sights of Philadelphia and the Portrait Gallery.

    4. As the itinerary is "fluid" at this time, please bear with us as we fit the puzzle pieces together.

  4. We are waiting to hear from the Hotel Latham about rooms for that weekend.

  5. Costs beyond airfare and hotel:  as with NYC, we'll need to pay honoraria to the museums for the tours we take (usually around $100, divided by the group).  The Barnes has a flat fee of $45 for private tours. The Winterthur trip will involve transportation to and from Philadelphia; the Context tour will cost $50/pp.  Then figure in the cost of dinner at a restaurant to be named.
