Hong Kong

Loaded down with presents from Larissa’s generous Chinese friends, we took the train to Hong Kong—a city with many beautiful museums and wonderful restaurants. One night we had dinner with my MFAA classmate Dora Lee, who took us to the Peking Garden in the Hong Kong Arts and Crafts Building. The Peking duck was incredible! At Café Deco, atop Victoria Peak, we enjoyed not only the good food but also fantastic views of the harbor lit up at night.
Getting around Hong Kong was a lot of fun—we took everything from buses and metros to trams and ferries. We went to the Hong Kong Art Museum, History Museum, and Heritage Museum—all big, interesting, and beautiful. On Lantau Island, we took a loooong cable car ride and then climbed 256 steps to get to the base of the 34-meter-tall bronze Tian Tan Buddha.
