Freylinghuysen-Morris House and Studio

The Freylinghuysen-Morris House and Studio was the studio/Berkshire home of the very wealthy couple, Suzy Freylinghuysen and George Morris, mid-century cubist artists who "brought cubism to America."  The home is a mid-century Bauhaus-inspiredstructure furnished with the designer furniture of the day.  George Morris studied with Leger in Paris and advocated for the cubist works of Gris, Picasso and others upon his return to the US in the 1930s.  Suzy was of the famous and wealthy Freylinghuysen family (Havemeyer, too) and sang opera at New York City Opera before marriage.  She also painted.  The house includes many paintings by the couple, plus works by Gris, Matisse, Picasso, Miro, Klee, and Braque.  The Guest House shows an hour video of their life together.  The house is open for tours only on Thursday-Sundays. Interesting tour.
